Castle Combe, often called The Prettiest Village in England, is a typical Cotswolds village with charming, historic cottages. It starred as a leading location in the acclaimed movie War Horse and has previously featured in a host of other films and TV series, including Dr Dolittle and Stardust. The village is a conservation area, with its charming cottages built in soft, honey coloured stone with thick walls and roofs made from split natural stone tiles.
The village is also home to a popular circuit for car and bike racing. Castle Combe Circuit is located on the site of the former RAF Castle Combe airfield. The village has twice played host to the Combe Sunday event, a music extravaganza which attracted 4,000 visitors in 2006.
